Materials

We use only the finest materials available, selected for quality and character, using the best local artisans. We offer a range of options to suit your preferences.

Blades

Our blades are sourced from Sheffield, which has a 700 year history of producing steel blades. This includes Damascus steel, stainless steel and carbon steel, amongst others.

Wood

We use hard woods, such as oak, ebony, laburnum. We source our wood through a supplier in Derbyshire who grows and harvests native trees. They also provides expertise for some of the more exotic imported timber we use. We collaborate with a number of specialists who provide the stabilised spalted woods.

The choice of wood will be influenced by the design and look you want. Our wood is finished with Danish oil and beeswax.

Fittings

Our collaboration with a ‘Goldleaf Jewellers ltd’, have enabled use to provide precious metals for fittings to suit your tastes, this includes Yellow gold, rose gold, platinum and silver

Sheaths

Plain, hand made sheath is supplied as standard. Tooled or laser engraved sheaths with a logo are an optional extra. Photo shows a tan coloured handmade sheath with laser etching, and dark brown hand tooled hand with our logo. These are available in a variety of colours.

Pommel stones

The choice of pommel stones are down to individual preference. If you have a favourite or preferred stone we will endeavour to accommodate you depending on availability, (and reasonable time scales).

Boxes

A choice of velvet or wooden box, which can be plain or laser engraved with your own motif.

Our Sgian Dubh are designed for ceremonial or ornamental use, to wear with National dress. To comply with current U.K. legislation, Sgian Dubh will only be sold to customers over 18 years old.

Proof of age will be required prior to completion of the sale.
